Last night, Casey attended the Youth Promise Act Benefit in West Hollywood and it was a family affair it seems as Summer was there (obviously!) as well as Heart and Rain Phoenix who are pictured with Casey in the second picture. The Venice Film Festival has begun as well so hopefully Casey will attend as I’m Still Here will be premiering there.

The hot movies to watch for at this year’s Venice Film Festival

With its early September slot, the Venice Film Festival has always been well placed to launch award-season contenders. Brokeback Mountain and Lost in Translation both world premiered here in previous editions, and Sofia Coppola — who picked up a Best Original Screenplay Oscar for Lost in Translation — is back, in competition this time, with Somewhere. The setting is again a hotel — LA celebrity kip Chateau Marmont — and the plot once more revolves around a boy-girl bonding session.

The other big buzz title of this year’s festival is Casey Affleck’s I’m Still Here (UK release September 17) — billed as a documentary about an odd year in the life of his friend and fellow actor Joaquin Phoenix, following the latter’s announcement that he was quitting acting for a new career as a rapper. Nobody knows if the documentary is actually a mockumentary, or if Phoenix’s career move was a stunt. If the film makes us care either way, it’s achieved something.
